RFSAT participates to the "Supplier Platform" aiming to demonstrate its micro-UAS based aerial day-night surveillance, environmental monitoring and 3D modelling of large areas resulting from its ongoing activities in the security domain bringing in also multi-modal user interfaces and mixed-reality technologies from its earlier FP7-ICT-StrokeBack project.

 

The amendment No:AMD-700151-16 foresees RFSAT upgrade to consortium partner status whereby RFSAT is expected to deliver a range of tools, including:

  • AERIAL OBSERVATION: this UAS mounted system will provide synchronised visual and thermal observation from either commercial or custom UAS platform, similar one to the EXPRESS Delivery Tool. Both manual and autonomous modes will be supported for performing wide area scanning, including using multiple UAS devices simultaneously. Visual analytics will allow detection of a range of standard objects, e.g. humans, vehicles, building, fires with full list to be defined during user needs analysis. Optionally, a tethered antenna load involving a commercial antenna cable will offer capabilities of using UAS devices as raised antennas for extending communication coverage (TRL=6).
  • EXPRESS DELIVERY: the RSFAT custom UAS platform will offer capabilities for delivering packages up to 4-5kg up to distances of 7km autonomously. This means that once target location is provided by the Command Centre, the mission plan will be generated automatically and sent to the UAV Ground Station, which will launch a drone on operator command, after that performing autonomous delivery of the package to its destination, afterwards returning the UAS to base. Drop of the parcel will need to be confirmed by the operator through a 3rd-party tool to confirm the delivery to the correct addressee. Only then package will be released. Otherwise it will be returned to base. (TRL=7-8)
  • AERIAL SAINT-BERNARD: this tool will be a variant of its EXPRESS Delivery Tool, whereby large number of UAS devices could be launched simultaneously via one (or more interconnected) Ground Station(s) to deliver a large number of emergency packages to specified locations. This may include medical supplies, mobile phones, etc (to be defined during needs analysis task). Precise localisation capabilities of the UAS platforms will be also used to advantage for precise localisation of people in need via integration with the Aerial Observation Tool, also from RFSAT (TRL=6/7).
  • SKY Mapper 3D: will provide autonomous aerial scanning of a large area (using multiple UAS devices and/or multiple missions depending on required precision and area size) and 3D modelling. The latter one will be possible to be performed either locally on a mobile platform at a compromise to quality and/or speed, or on a remote high-performance platform providing high-speed of processing and high-precision though requiring networking availability at the incident area. Optional SW tool will enable volumetric model analysis and/or comparison against models captured earlier (or use images of area captured earlier to produce a model for comparison). The tool will allow also 3D modelling of Cultural Heritage objects, bringing experiences from an ongoing SCAN4RECO RFSAT project of (TRL=5/7).
